About Me

Who Am I? My AFOL Story

Hey there! I’m Alex, an AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) with a serious passion (read: obsession) for LEGO Modular Buildings. If you had told me years ago that my free time (and wallet 🥲) would be consumed by meticulously stacking tiny plastic bricks, I probably would have laughed. And yet, here we are—one modular at a time, slowly turning my home into a miniature LEGO city.

My love for LEGO didn’t start yesterday. Like many AFOLs, I grew up with LEGO, spent my childhood building castles, spaceships, and wildly impractical houses with no roofs. Then, life happened. I drifted away from LEGO, convinced that I had “outgrown” it. That’s what we call the Dark Age. (Spoiler: You never actually outgrow LEGO.)

That all changed in March 2020, when I picked up my first LEGO Modular Buildings. What started as “just one set” quickly spiraled into an ever-growing collection. Turns out, LEGO isn’t just a fun hobby—it’s an art form, a storytelling tool, and an endless rabbit hole of creativity.

Now, I’m on a mission: to collect every single LEGO Modular ever released—and document the journey here.

How I Got Hooked on LEGO Modulars

Like many AFOLs, my return to LEGO began with that fateful “one last set.” For me, it was the LEGO Bookshop (10270)—a charming, detailed build that immediately sucked me back into the world of LEGO. The experience of assembling intricate facades, discovering clever building techniques, and spotting hidden Easter eggs was unlike anything I had built before.

Then, I thought, “Well, I can do just one more.”

Enter: The LEGO Police Station (10278)—another masterpiece, packed with personality and details that made me feel like a kid again. By the time I placed it next to the Bookshop on my shelf, I knew I was in trouble. I had to collect them all.

What fascinates me most about Modular Buildings?

  • The insane level of detail—from hidden storylines to minifig mischief.
  • The genius building techniques—each set teaches you something new.
  • The community and nostalgia—AFOLs love dissecting these sets, and let’s be honest, there’s something comforting about snapping bricks together after a long day.

Fast forward to today, and my collection has grown well beyond what I originally planned. My display shelf? Full. My wallet? Regretful. My excitement? Unstoppable.

The Goal: Collecting Every Modular (And Running Out of Space)

This blog is my personal quest to collect, build, and document every single LEGO Modular ever made—from the legendary Café Corner (10182) to the latest releases. Along the way, I’ll be sharing:
✔️ Deep-dive retrospectives on each set—history, design evolution & hidden details.
✔️ Personal build experiences (including inevitable display dilemmas).
✔️ LEGO Modular news, speculation & wishlists for future sets.
✔️ Storage & display tips for fellow AFOLs who have also run out of space.
✔️ A healthy dose of AFOL humor—because we all know this hobby is both amazing and slightly ridiculous.

So, whether you’re a fellow modular collector, a nostalgic LEGO fan, or just someone wondering how deep the LEGO rabbit hole goes—welcome to my LEGO city-in-progress!

Let’s build something awesome together. 🚀
